“HRM is management function concerned with hiring, motivating and maintaining people in an organization. It focuses on people in Organization” (Aswathappa, 2008). Human resource planning is the process of identifies the present and future requirement of human resource to the organization to achieve its future objectives. Human resource planning is a key activity of HRM process. Human resource planning guarantees that employees and jobs are a fit while avoid labor shortages or surpluses. Human resource planning should serve as a link between human resource management and the overall strategic plan of an organization. The strategic plan considers the entire organization, the HRM strategic plan considers the entire department, and the HR plan considers specific challenges in the human resource department.
Writing the HRM Plane
HRM Plane is based on the strategic plane of the company.HR Managers should always refer the strategic plane before planning the HRM plane.
The six parts of HRM plane includes the followings
1. DETERMINE
THE HUMAN RESOURCE NEED – It determine the how many people need to be achieve
the organizational goals depending on the past performance of the organization,
future prospective and external economic conditions.
2. RECRUIT
– It is the process of hearing people with required skills, attitudes and
personality.
3. SELECT
– once the person met with the organizational requirements offering that
position is the select. Salary and other conditions are negotiated in this
point.
4. DEVELOP
TRAINING- organization want the success of the employees therefor development
of the employees knowledge on the company culture, skills need to do the job
and human relation skills improve through the training and development.
5. COMPENSATIONS-
It’s the process of what amount should you pay for the employee considering the
skill level of the employee.it must in line with employee and fair enough to
everyone in the organization.
6. PERFORMANCE
APPRAISAL- it is the process of measuring the performance of the recruits. This
process motivate and benefited the employee. Various methods can be used to
performance appraisal.
Link HRM Plane with company Strategic plane
1. Constantly
monitor the HRM plane
HRM Plane should be a live one and
have make adjustment with the changes happened within the organization and
external factors.
2. Should
measure the HRM plane.
HRM plane should specific enough to
measure its performance.
3. Change
if necessary
HRM plane should have to change quickly
to meet the organizational requirements.
4. Aware
of legislative changes
Changes in the legislative system effects the HRM process therefor awareness on legislative changes important to HRM planning.
Conclusions
Human resource planning is one of the key activity in HR
Management. It’s the process of identifies the present and future requirement
of human resource to the organization to achieve its future objectives. HRM
plane should go hand in hand with the organizational strategic plane to
achieving the objectives of the organization.
